We are planning to build an exciting and innovative community in of the economically distressed neighborhoods of Croix-Des-Bouquets. The Grand Chemin Housing Community (GCHC) Project will provide housing to 20 families who become homeless after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti on January 12,2010.
In addition, it will provide occupational training construction skills and Entrepreneur and Business skills as well as basic educational services and leadership development counseling to young people..
The program, which the partners envision, is multifaceted, comprehensive and innovative. The small town has a tremendous need for affordable housing. The organizations involved are looking actively to identify an appropriate site that will satisfy all parties involved.
The Housing component will provide Housing not only to those families affected by the devastating earthquake but also to other families in the area who want to involved in the town’s revitalization. We anticipate that 75 percent of the units will be set aside for housing for homeless families who are victims of the disaster. Social and other necessary services will be provided for them on site. The entire project will be financed by several non-profit organizations. We may seek funds from unconventional lending institutions. We will seek the cooperation of town's leaders as well as community groups and other private organizations.
